About this project

Ever since Horizon Zero Dawn was revealed one of the effects I wanted to reproduce where its volumetric clouds. Luckily, a lot of information was released about it and I did not have create it from scratch. While performance and quality at the start was not great, the project quickly improved in terms of quality and speed. The shader is extremely scalable and the videos you can see on this page were rendered with frametimes of ~1.5 ms on an Xbox One S. I am hoping to further improve the quality of the clouds in the future and to move the project from Unity to my custom engine.
