About this project

The Gears Hammer of Dawn case study is by far the most popular tutorial on the website. It teaches the reader how to create a full destruction sequence and how small details can add up to achieve a convincing effect. To identify which vertex belongs to which fragment of the ground, data is baked into one of the UV channels of the model. This allows this whole effect to be animated procedurally in a vertex shader rather than relying on animations.
